Janna Jihad is 13 years old, and began her career as a reporter a number of years ago, with the goal to present the perspective of Palestinian youth growing up amidst Israeli occupation and violence. Originally using her mother’s iPhone to capture videos of protests near her home — uploading them to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube — she eventually began covering events and marches in Jerusalem and Jordan, reporting in both Arabic and English. Janna is known by Palestinian communities across the world, with 270,000 current followers on Facebook.

In 2017, hosted by the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, and as part of the Pals4Peace tour with the Shamsaan Children of Palestine, Janna traveled to South Africa to spread awareness about the Palestinian struggle. This trip to the U.S. comes on the heels of her work in South Africa, and is the first time she will be speaking here about her journalism. Don’t miss it!
