Dear colleagues
A group of Greek tourists checked into hotel here in Beit Jala then leaving
behind four suspected cases among hotel workers (not confirmed yet). We
have very few good ministers in the Palestinian authority but fortunately
in this case we have the very capable minister Dr. May Kayali. May is a
friend who I have known for many years and she was quick to issue the
proper precautionary instructions. Schools and universities were shut down.
Of course we are part of Bethlehem University but we cannot shut down the
operation of the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability.
For example there are animals and plants to take care of and also cultured
cells in our clinical laboratory. Just yesterday we received an injured
(broken shattered wing) long-eared owl for rehabilitation. We have fish,
chickens, peacocks, hawk, hamsters and more. We also have many projects.
After a fairly quick meeting of staff and volunteers (including existing
International volunteers), we made the needed arrangements: some staff will
work from their homes, volunteers continue to come here to take care of
things, work and life go on. Our recommendation echoes health officials: do
not panic, avoid certain area contacts, and most important wash hands
frequently.
As I had predicted, the Zionist media and pundits from CNN to CNBC to Fox
news ganged up to make Zionist Joe Biden seem a rational choice. Since 80%
of US citizens rarely travel or know much about what is going on even in
their presumed capital Washington DC (now fully occupied like we are), they
got swayed. Biden will get the party nomination and so Trump will win in
November with a landslide. We still need the global revolution. Maybe the
Corona virus will finally end the illusion of “safety” by walls and
military and such. If governments like that in the US spend just 5% of
their military budgets on healthcare and alleviating poverty, we would not
be in such a bad situation.
But the bottom line for us is we show our communities that we must work and
work very hard. Our staff and volunteers continue to work (few work from
home, many still report to our work here). Life is a struggle. But it is
the good work that will eventually triumph over the scheming of rich
corrupt politicians (Netanyahu, Trump, Biden etc).
