[HumanRights] Families share – Mazin Qumsiyeh

A year ago we wrote “The family of the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity
and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University wishes you a Merry
Christmas, beautiful holidays with ones you love, and a safe, healthy and
productive (and environmentally friendly) new year.” By all standards we
had a stellar successful/productive year ourselves at the institute even in
the midst of conflict, instability, and killing (just today three young
Palestinians killed). We invite you to come visit and see us (also
Bethlehem is particularly ‘visitable’ in the Christmas season).

Yesterday we had our annual retreat where we reviewed 2022 accomplishments
and articulated plans for 2023 as well as revisited the five year plan.  In
2022, we published 24 research papers (average two per month), educated
thousands, started the mobile educational unit which reaches so many in
marginalized communities, developed our facilities (biodiversity center,
molecular labs, herbarium, community garden, museum exhibits and more),
gave over 210 workshops (including organizing a global convention), and
conserved wildlife (including via animal rehabilitation and release and ex
situ and in situ conservation). We also worked on national strategies and
action plans and collaborated with local and global organizations to
protect our planet.  2023 will take us to even higher levels with six new
projects, new building renovation and exhibits, a peace garden, and even a
new bachelor degree in biodiversity and sustainability among many other
amazing plants (happy to share those with you).

BUT WE CAN ONLY GROW AND SERVE PEOPLE AND NATURE WITH YOUR (CONTINUED)
SUPPORT
You can look at our last year’s accomplishments shown here

even more impressive annual report covering this year
